VISITING MEXICO

DRINKING WATER
All major hotels and restaurants have purified water. This means that yes, you can use tap water. However, the hotel will provide you with bottle water in your room for drinking.  The water served at restaurants is purified and can be consumed.

TIPPING
In restaurants in Mexico it is customary to leave a tip equal to 15 to 20% of the total cost of the bill.   Tax and service has already been included at Velas Vallarta with the all-inclusive package.  Any additional gratuity will be at your discretion and will be billed to you directly.

CURRENCY
The Peso is the official currency of Mexico.  However, US Dollars are accepted in many locations.

TIME
Puerto Vallarta, Mexico is located within the Central Standard Time Zone which is 1 hour behind Eastern Time Zone and 2 hours ahead of Pacific Standard Time.

LANGUAGE
Spanish is the spoken language in Mexico, however English is widely spoken in hotels, restaurants and shops.

WEATHER
Puerto Vallarta enjoys sunshine most of the year, and the weather is very comfortable with most days filled with warm sunshine, ocean breezes and low humidity. You can expect the highs to be in the mid 80's and lows in the mid 60's at night during the month of March.  March is dry season and you can expect little to no rainfall.

CELL PHONE USAGE
International communications outside of Mexico is easier than ever, however, it can be quite costly. We highly recommend you check with your cellular phone provider concerning rates and roaming charges.

ELECTRICITY
You will NOT need an adapter for your chargers and appliances to work.  Mexico uses the same outlets as the US.
